Hawaii’s Green Sea Turtles

Green sea turtles are among the largest sea turtles in the world, weighing up to 700 pounds. With their large flippers they are graceful swimmers around the reef, feeding on marine grasses and algae. It is not uncommon for a green sea turtle to live to be 80 years old, similar to a human lifespan. To lay their eggs, most of Hawaii’s green sea turtles travel over 700 miles to French Frigate Shoals, their preferred nesting area.
